STAINLESS
STEEL NFPA CYLINDER LINE...

A full line
of stainless steel products is now available from TRD Manufacturing,
a Bimba Company. The new design uses a stainless steel rod bearing
with a Teflon composite bearing; a Teflon rod wiper, which is compatible
with most wash-down and sanitizing solutions; and acorn nuts which
eliminate exposed threads.

This cylinder
is a rugged actuator developed for conveyor-stop applications. Features
include hard coat anodized, PTFE-impregnated cylinder body, and
space-efficient overall length and envelope size.

FLAT-1
SERIES SOLID STATE SWITCHES...
|
Earlier this
year, the solid state switch for the Flat-1 was shortened in length
to match other switch product lines. The HC and HK pigtail lead
lengths were shortened to 24" from 48", and the HCQ and
HKQ quick connect leads were shortened to 5" from 18".
The 24" and 5" length leads are now standard across all
switch product lines. Bimba realizes that this change may cause
problems with with regard to use of replacement switches in existing
applications. To make up for it, they are offering a special Flat-1
Solid State switch with longer lead lengths at no additional cost
to the customer for a period of 6 months, at which time usage will
be reviewed.

ONE-QUART
BOWL REDESIGN REQUIRED FOR 10-015 AND 10-028 LUBRICATORS...
|
The one-quart
bowls for the 10-015 and 10-028 lubricators have been redesigned
due to major tooling issues and an effort to maintain current prices.
The new design incorporates the 17 Series one-quart bowl with the
introduction of a new die-cast adapter. The head assembly remains
unchanged.

OBSOLESCENCE
OF 15-002 AND 15-052 SPRAY LUBRICATORS...
|
Tooling maintenance
and low volume sales have created difficulty in producing the 15-002
and 15-052 product. Direct replacement for this product range is
not available, and due to manufacturing difficulties a quick obsolescence
is required. As of December 31, 2001, the 15-002 and 15-052 lubricators
will no longer be available.

LIGHTING CONTROLS...
|
Omron has partnered
with CCS America to provide you with a complete machine vision and
lighting solution. By using the CCS Intelligent Lighting Adapter
(ILA) plugged into an Omron F-series camera with the Intelligent
Light Source interface, you can control and save the lighting settings
of any of CCS's over 200 lighting products.

TECHNICAL
TIP...
|
Compressed
air-operated machinery can be dangerous when air is being applied.
Depending on the sequence of the machine, when the air pressure
is removed, the components may or may not be in their "home"
position. As the air is applied, components may actuate erratically,
potentially causing severe damage and hazards to the operator.
These problems
can be minimized by using "Smooth
Start" valves. These units are typically 2-port, 2-position,
spring return, normally closed valves. When air is applied to the
machine, it is metered through a control device that retards the
rate of downstream pressure buildup. Cylinders and other compressed
air devices are eased into position, allowing the operator time
to react to potential problems. Once system pressure maximizes,
the device opens fully, allowing for normal machine operation.
